Explore Sheep from the Kittitas Valley

We have been raising sheep for 24 years with a focus on continual improvement of the genetics in our flock. It has been a fun adventure traveling all over the US for new genetics and in 2024 we dipped our toes into importing genetics from the UK for artificial insemination in a select number of ewes.

Lambing Time

Lambing will occur in late January or early February 2025. This is earlier than our normal lambing time but the AI technician was available in early September so we are going with it!

Breeds

In 2025, we are expecting Texel lambs and some Dutch Spotted crossbreds. This is a new breed to the farm and we are hoping for a good lambing. We did not breed for any purebred Coopworths as we have a nice selection available at present and want to keep our numbers in check. Our Coopworth wool is the most sought after wool we raise so some years that’s all the girls do is grow fleece!

Flock Management

Our flock is considered a farm flock since they don’t leave our place and are grazed on our rotational pastures. The grass here is very rich in most nutrients (although deficient in selenium which we supplement) and lambs grow well. Meg, our livestock guardian dog, watches over the ewes day and night.
